Marilu Henner Bio

Mary Lucy Denise "Marilu" Henner (born on the 6th of April 1952) is an American actress as well as a producer, podcaster, radio host and an author. Following her debut in the musical Grease, Henner made her screen debut in the comedy-drama movie Between the Lines in 1977. In 1977 she was cast as Elaine O'Connor Nardo on the sitcom on ABC/NBC Taxi. She received five Golden Globe Award nominations. She was a part of several films, including Hammett (1982), The Man Who Loved Women (83), Cannonball Run II (1884) and Johnny Dangerously (1884), RustlersThe ' Rhapsody (1985), Ladykillers(88), L.A. Story (1991) and The Noises Off (1992). After appearing in CBS' Evening Shade (1990-1994) She returned to television and was the main character in several TV-made movies. As a student at the University of Chicago in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, Henner originated the role of "Marty" in the Kingston Mines production of Grease in the year 1971. When the show was discovered and transferred to Broadway Henner was invited to reprise the role but chose to instead perform "Marty" as part of the touring company that was based in the United States alongside John Travolta, who played "Doody". Other Broadway credits for Henner include Over Here!, with Travolta and the revivals of Pal Joey, Chicago, Social Security, and The Tale of the Allergist's Wife. Her first film appearance in the 1977 sleeper-hit Between the Lines. It included then undiscovered actors John Heard, Lindsay Crouse and Jill Eikenberry. Her next film role was as Richard Gere in the 1978 film Bloodbrothers.
