Deborah Rhea
Seehorn, born May 12, 1972 is an American actress. She is best known for her
role as the attorney Kim Wexler on AMC's Better Call Saul (2015-2018), for
which she was recognized with the Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actress
in a TV Series, Miniseries, or Television Film. She has also starred in NBC's
Whitney (2011-2013) as well as ABC's I'm with Her (2003-2004) as well as TNT's
Franklin & Bash (2011-2014). Deborah Rhea Seehorn, a Norfolk native,
was born May 12, 1972. Her mother was the executive secretary of the United
States Navy, her father was an agent for the Naval Investigative Service. The
family resided in Washington, D.C., Arizona, Japan, and was frequently moved
throughout her youth. From a young age she was influenced by her grandparent
and grandmother to pursue a career in drawing, painting and architecture.
Although she pursued all of the arts in her life, she also developed a passion
for acting. In college she was introduced contemporary theater. In 1994, she
graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio
Art. In college, Seehorn was looking to get into theater, after the
encouragement from her acting teacher. To be noticed, she worked in various ancillary
roles within D.C.'s theater industry. However, she never managed to be a part
of major local productions of theater and had to work odd jobs in order to
survive however, she continued working in the film industry as a teacher
filmmaker. She soon started getting parts in more television productions
frequently playing roles that she thought were "very funny, sarcastic and
knowing women" which was similar to her idol Bea Arthur. Most of these
roles were removed after just two or three seasons. In May 2014, Seehorn was
cast in the Breaking Bad spin-off prequel series Better Call Saul. Seehorn
plays Kim Wexler (a lawyer) and is the love-interest for the Jimmy McGill
character.
