Paula Patton
Paula Patton was the daughter of Joyce
(Vanraden), and Charles Patton. Her father is African-American . her mother,
who is caucasian is of German, English, and Dutch her ancestry. Her family
lived directly next to the 20th Century Fox lot as she was growing-up, and she
was an avid movie buff from her early days. Her mother was a teacher while her
father worked as an attorney. Paula states that she used to escape from her
mother by pretending to be someone else when she was when she was a kid. It's not
a surprise that she took part in Hamilton Magnet Arts High School's high school
plays. Her most loved role was one played by Abigail in "The
Crucible". After graduation from the University Southern California's
summer school, she pursued film studies and was assigned a three-month project
to make documentaries for PBS. This meant that she was hired as a production
associate in TV documentaries and on Howie Mandel’s talk show. Later, she
produced documentaries for Medical Diaries (2000 on Discovery Health Channel).
Paula admits she is happy with doing what she loves, but she dreams of becoming
an actor. She quickly became successful and, in just three years of her debut,
she had appeared in part in two major feature films: Hitch (2005) and Idlewild
(2006) and also the female character in Deja Vu (2006) opposite Denzel
Washington.
